Our retreats and workshops are led by expert practitioners and typically run three to six nights. We provide overnight accommodations, healthy meals, and a 600 square foot practice studio for up to 16 participants.
PASSAGE—The Future of Contemporary Realism — ART SHOW
We invite you to attend our new exhibit of over 100 works by 20 artists from the renowned Grand Central Atelier in Brooklyn, NY. Meet the artists, see the portraits, figures, landscapes, and florals they’ve created from life. Go home with a museum-quality work of art.
Before and during the show, the artists will stay in residence at Willow and fan across southern Vermont to paint plein air landscapes. You may volunteer your property to be the featured subject of new paintings and drawings.
Hygge Yoga Retreat: Slowing Down & Retreating Inward
Join host Sophie Lyons (she/her) for a 4 day, 3 night cozy yoga retreat at Willow Vermont Retreat. This retreat will be centered around slowing down after the busyness of the new year and creating space to stoke your inner fire (tapas). Capturing Likeness and Character in Portraits - A Painting Workshop
Join Laurel Stern Boeck, one of the nation’s foremost portrait painters, for a three-day workshop.
This workshop is for participants at all levels, from student to professional to hobbyist. Those who are fascinated with capturing the likeness and character of a person will thrive in this workshop. From observation of the live model, we will examine light, structure, and form to create faithful likenesses of the subject. We will study color and value to develop stunning compositions. Finally, we will discuss how to build a narrative that explores the subject's character.
Awaken - A Rejuvenating Yoga Retreat
Join us for an unforgettable experience at Willow Vermont Retreat. We will enjoy a weekend of restoration, awakening, and community!
Our time together will be filled with gentle yoga asana and pranayama classes accompanied by live music. As well as time in nature to meditate and experience the wild trails of Willow.
Creating the Portrait from Life - A Drawing Workshop
In this 4-day intensive workshop, artists will learn fundamental techniques to capturing a likeness while drawing from a live model. Beginning with a linear block-in that focuses on both the visual impression as well as the underlying structure of the skull, students will employ optical and conceptual drawing methods simultaneously.
Movement, Meditation & Exploration
This three-night, four-day springtime retreat offers a unified practice of movement, breathwork, and meditation for relaxation and renewal in the Green Mountains.
Retreat leaders Corinne Matti and Doug Hattaway co-teach yoga and meditation workshops in Washington, DC, that combine movement, breathing, and meditation practices with learning about ancient philosophies and modern science.

Coming Home to Yourself : A Queer Yoga Retreat
Join retreat host Sophie Lyons (she/her) for a 5 day, 4 night LGBTQIA2S+ Affinity Yoga retreat. This retreat is an offering to folks who wish to deepen their yoga practice and spend intentional time immersed in Queer community. Wake up to morning yoga, enjoy delicious food, and spend the day engaged with optional activities such as; hiking, swimming, meditation, journaling, workshops to explore our relationship to Queerness and time to unplug in the Vermont outdoors.
Painting the Vermont Landscape - A Painting Workshop
Join George Van Hook, a nationally recognized artist who has won numerous Plein Air competitions and awards from around the country for his oils and watercolors, for a three-day plein air workshop.
George stresses allaprima painting and using a loose and fast approach to capture the landscape in the first try. Each day begins with a demo by the artist. At that time, he will discuss composition, laying out the pallet, proper use of materials and all other aspects of plein air painting. We will then break up into groups and paint individually. He will then provide individual instruction helping solve the issues for each artist.
Techniques in Classical Realism - A Drawing and Painting Workshop
In this four day retreat and workshop, instructors Tyler Berry and Chelsea Bard will work with students to strengthen their understanding and application of techniques in contemporary realism while working with live models.

We will leave the retreat with increased sensitivity to the “Field” Rumi speaks of so that we may bring this awareness into our daily lives, greeting whatever arises in our life more often from our natural state of Being rather than our conditioned egoic mind.

On Saturdays once each month, we open a pop-up takeout Indian restaurant. Ravi makes delicious, home-cooked Indian meals from family recipes handed down over generations in his home state of Maharashtra, India. He serves up two main dish options (one vegetarian or vegan and one meat or fish) and two side dishes.

Understanding the Figure and Portrait
In this three-night residential workshop and retreat, you will focus on capturing the personality and likeness, and figurative gesture of a live model. Students may choose to work in oil, pastels, watercolors or acrylics. Men and women of all skill levels are welcome to join this retreat.

Join us our first ever two-night gathering for gay, bi, trans and queer men. Included in the fee is one welcome dinner and two breakfasts, morning yoga and evening meditation.
